Online Money Making Glossary

The following is a list of definitions of terms commonly used in Online Money Making as a Web Publisher.

Affiliate Program

An affiliate program is a program whereby a web publisher is paid a commission on products or services sold to buyers referred by that publisher (or affiliate).

CPA - Cost Per Action

In Cost Per Action advertising, a website visitor must click on an ad then perform some action. An example might be signing up to a newsletter. In this case the web publisher gets paid a fee for every person who performs the action.

CPC - Cost Per Click

In CPC advertising, a web publisher earns a fee for every time a visitor clicks on an ad. Google’s Adsense program is one of the best known examples of this.

CPM - Cost Per Mille (1000 Impressions)

In CPM advertising, a web publisher gets paid a set amount for every 1000 times a particular ad is displayed.

CPS - Cost Per Sale

Cost Per Sale is a revenue sharing model where a publisher is paid a commission on each sale they generate.  This is by far the most common model used by affiliate programs.

PPC - Pay Per Click

Another term for CPC. An advertising model whereby a web publisher earns a fee every time a visitor to their website clicks on an ad.
