Make Money (soon) with Fair Ads Network

I came across this brand spanking new way of making money from your blog over at Blogger Forum. In fact, this program is so new, it is not even operational yet.
Fair Ads Network (aff) is the newest ad network offering to make money for bloggers. F.A.N. is in prelaunch (as of 27 January) and is expecting to head into beta in March. The marketing blurb on their main page reads as follows:
“Get ready to say goodbye to Adsense and YPN and see why the contextual ad networks you knew is a thing of the past. Discover a better way to earn an income with FAN by more than just advertising your business or publishing ads on your website.”
According to the FAQ, Fair Ads Network will offer the following ads types:
- CPC (Cost Per Click)
- CPM (Cost Per Impression)
- Rich Media (eg. Video)
- Interstitial (I’ve not heard of this one before, but apparently the ad will interrupt the navigation of a site, requesting the user to perform some action, for which the publisher will be paid)
Why Fair Ads Network might be different
F.A.N. are touting a couple of things which may help to differentiate it from its competitors.
- Choose a range of CTR prices to display on your blog. You can choose $0.05 - $0.49, $050 - $5.00 and $5.01 - $10.00. I think the idea is to eliminate the tiny amounts you sometimes earn for clicks on Adsense ads.
- You wont get banned for clicking on your own ads. F.A.N. will be implementing technology to void any clicks on your own ads, so there will be no risk of having your account suspended.
Fair Ads Network is only accepting 9570 members for their beta program. When I signed up, there were 662 members, so there is still plenty of time if you want to sign up.
The Referral Program
The only thing operational right now is their referral program. Under this program, you will earn $4 for every $50 each of your referred publishers earns. However, I noticed that you need to be a Qualified Publisher to earn this commission. To be a qualified publisher, you must earn and maintain a minimum account balance of $20.
So in the interests of finding new ways to Monetize Your Blog, I will be trying out the Fair Ads Network program as a publisher when it enters beta. Is all this to good to be true? Maybe. Have I missed something in the fine print. We shall see.

Interstitial advertising is also offered by adbrite a long period already. This ad looks like a layer that covers all your page. It’s like the cover page of a free press newspaper. You can read it or just skip it and go to the website/blog that you are visiting. This kind of advertisement pays bigger amounts because of the way it’s incorporated in your site but it is displayed on repeated visitors (who already know your site and don’t get confused by the layout of the ad).
