Are you looking for something to blog about? Do you need to know the latest news in your niche so you can keep your blog at the cutting edge? Google Alerts is a great way to keep up to date by having one of the web’s most powerful search engines do the leg work for you.

Google Alerts will track the latest search results on a particular topic and send you an email with the most recent updates. To set up a Google Alert, simply go to http://www.google.com/alerts and enter the following details:

You can choose to monitor one of the following types of search results:

The email options are once per week, once per day or as it happens.

You can sign up to many different alerts (ie. alerts for many different search terms). The FAQ says you can have up to one hundred.

So whether you are blogging for money or just for fun, Google Alerts is a great tool to keep handy in your blogger’s toolbox.
