Paris Hilton to promote blog?

Could you use Paris Hilton to promote your blog? For example, would it be possible to draw some tenuous link between a celebrity like Paris Hilton and the subject of making money from blogging?
This idea first occurred to me today when I read a post entitled 2006 Google Analytic ShoeMoney.com Statistics on Shoemoney’s blog. In the post, ShoeMoney publishes his blog’s statistics on pages viewed and top keywords, among other things. What caught my attention was that Paris Hilton was up there at number one for the keywords statistic (ShoeMoney explains in the comments that ShoeMoney is actually at the top but that google analytics filtered it out).
Coincidently, I noticed a couple of weeks ago that Paris Hilton topped the list of Google News searches. The following list comes from Google Zeitgeist for 2006 year-end.
The top searches on Google News:1. paris hilton
2. orlando bloom
3. cancer
4. podcasting
5. hurricane katrina
6. bankruptcy
7. martina hingis
8. autism
9. 2006 nfl draft
10. celebrity big brother 2006
Now, I am not suggesting for one second that ShoeMoney did not in fact meet Paris Hilton (in fact, on ShoeMoney’s blog is a photo of Paris and her dog posing with ShoeMoney). But it did start me wondering how so much traffic searching for Paris Hilton, ended up at a blog which is mostly about adventures trying to make a living online.
This is pertinent because I read yesterday on The Million Dollar Experiment heads Down Under (see A New Focus Moving Forwards for our Million Dollar Experiment Down Under) that Bartle has decided to spend 90% of his efforts on building traffic rather than the old 50/50 split between earnings and traffic. And, at Mike’s Money Making Mission, Mike posted More Visitors = More Money in which he states:
I’m still searching for that illusive way to bring thousands of visitors to this and my other blogs.
I suspect that like me, the owners of these two newer blogs came to the realization that blog promotion was more important than blog monetization, at least in the early stages. I know my initial flurry of activity signing up for a myriad of publisher advertising schemes quickly gave way to the hard slog of finding an audience for my blog.
So, could using the star power of Paris Hilton or (insert your favorite celebrity’s name here) help to drive more traffic to your blog? And perhaps, more to the point, is it traffic worth having? Are a whole lot of readers searching for the latest gossip about Paris Hilton really going to be interested in what I have to say about Monetizing Your Blog?

So, how many hits has Paris got for you?
At least you had the decency to give them a picture
Not very many. I don’t think this post would have been indexed by google yet. Even then, I wouldn’t think it would be terribly high in the search results.
I forgot you were on Blogger. The WP sitemap plugin usually means my posts are indexed in hours.
That said, have you submitted a sitemap to Google? I’ve just started a Blogger blog to understand the system better, and in less than 12 hours it has indexed the blog & the results should be available to search soon.
I do have a sitemap submitted to Google. Google reads it every 24 hours. But when I look in Google Webmaster Tools it looks like Google only visits my site every 2 days.

Yeah, its sad, sex sells.
I read a blogger telling that a post she wrote comparing Paris with another top star (beyonce I think) has been her most popular post post in her blog which is primarily about online money making. Seems like it is true to you too. I’m also tempted by these things but I’m very religious, so I don’t think I will use a selling sex even though it may bring in traffic and make money
Planet Apex - You don’t necessarily need to use Paris Hilton. Have a look at Google Trends to see what people are searching for now. Then if you can somehow incorporate that into a blog post, you might be on a winner.
As I write this, the top 10 searches on Google Trends are:
1. nick swisher
2. iowa caucus results
3. meredith emerson
4. charles chatman
5. kumari fulbright
6. christopher martin
7. tony elliott
8. tim hasselbeck
9. omarosa
10. la magique
