Google Rankings - A Free Search Engine Optimization Tool

I cam across a site call Google Rankings yesterday. Google Rankings is a free tool that allows you to determine the location of your pages in the search results returned by Google. Google Rankings is not affiliated with Google. The tool uses the Google Web API and is therefore (or so they claim) powered by Google.

In order to use the tool you will need to have your own Google API Key. There is a link from the Google Rankings page to help you generate one. Once you have this key, you will need to enter it along with your website’s url and your key words.

When I entered monetize-your-blog.blogspot.com and the key words monetize your blog it told me I ranked in 10th place on Google. This was a surprise as I didn’t realize I was back in the index. However, a quick search on Google confirmed that my blog was in fact the 10th entry returned. Google Rankings allows you to search the first 1000 entries returned from Google. This sure beats paging through all of those results yourself.

In addition to Google, Google Rankings also searches Yahoo, MSN and Ask search engines. My blog was the 11th entry in Yahoo, but did not show up in eith MNS or Ask search engines.
