Blog Soldiers Traffic Exchange

I signed up to the Blog Soldiers traffic exchange program a couple of days ago. Blog Soldiers is a traffic sharing site whereby they will send bloggers to your blog in exchange for you reading other bloggers’ weblogs.

The registration process was reasonably straight forward. They sent the standard activation email and I was in business. I was able to start surfing (and hence earning credits) straight away, but my blog had to be approved before it could go into the rotation. I received approval for my blog in under 24 hours. For each blog surfed, they award 0.75 of one credit. This equates to 3 visitors to your blog for every 4 you view.

Blog Soldiers also has a referral program. This program allows you to refer new members the Blog Soldiers and in return you receive extra credits when they surf. I couldn’t find out how many credits you get, but the FAQ says the program is 5 levels deep (ie. you get credits for referrals generated by your referals). Blog Soldiers provide a link to keep track of your referrals. My referral link is here.

Another program offered by Blog Soldiers is Banners Advertising. Under this program you can also use your credits to purchase banner advertising on Blog Soldiers. The cost is currently 20 impressions per credit. I thought this sounded quite interesting (more of a novelty really) so I have created a banner (read about it here) and set it up on the site.

Blog Soldiers also offers Text Link Advertising. It is essentially the same as the Banners Advertising program except a text link is used instead of a banner and the cost is 1 credit per 40 impressions.

The traffic exchange definitely works as the number of hits to this blog has increased dramatically. However, a blogger only needs to view a blog for about 20 seconds (in order to earn 1 credit) before moving onto the next blog. I am not convinced that traffic received through such a contrived mechanism is all that valuable. Having said that, as I was surfing and earning credits, there were a couple of blogs which caught my eye and which I read in more depth - so you never now…
