Google AdSense Referrals

I was looking at the AdSense website today and noticed that as well as Adsense For Content, there is also AdSense For Search and Referrals.
I already have AdSense For Content on my blog. These are ads which are relevant to the content on your website. So if your site is about making money from blogging, then the ads which appear should all be related to making money from blogging. The theory is that it will improve value to your reader while generating revenue for the blogger (or other content publisher) as the readers click on the ads.
Adsense For Search is a program whereby you put a google search box on your web page and allow readers to search directly from your website. I think the idea is that the search results display ads along side them and when a reader clicks on one, you get paid. I’m not totally convinced of the merits of this program as most browsers now have a search box up in their toolbar. However I will probably give it a try at some stage as this blog is all about trying the things which can earn you money from blogging.
Referrals allows you to refer readers to other products and services. At the moment these products and services are:
- Google AdSense - you earn $100 when a publisher which signs up through your referral earns their first $100.
- Google AdWords - you earn $20 when an advertiser which signs up through your referral earns their first $100.
- Firefox plus Google Toolbar - you earn $1 for each user that downloads and installs firefox through your referral.
- Google Pack - you earn $2 when a users downloads and installs at least one component of Google Pack.
- Picasa - you earn $1 when a user downloads and installs Picasa.
The Referrals program looks quite nice so I selected some ads, copied the code block generated for me then pasted it into my blog template. I chose Google AdSense and AdWords as they relate directly to this blog. I also chose Firfox because I use it and can recommend it as a browser.
The ads should now appear at the bottom of the right hand column of the blog.
