Setting up my blog

As I mentioned in a previous post, there really wasn’t much involved in setting up this blog. I already had the subject matter for the blog. It was just a matter of finding somewhare to put it. When I first started my investigations into blogging I searched google for “free blogging” and the first entry was www.blogger.com. A little more investigation showed that blogger had actually been bought by Google (this is probably no great revelation to most people and it was on the about page of blogger.com). This seemed fine and would probably not make much difference either way to me.
So I went to blogger and clicked on the “Create Your Blog Now” link. The process was fairly simple. I just had to enter an email address and a password for authentication. I then chose a template and I was away. I haven’t really fiddled with the options much yet. The template I chose is okay, but not fantastic.
I must make the point that I did not look into what other free services there are out there for free weblogs so I don’t know how blogger compares. However it was simple enough for a complete novice like myself to create the weblog and start blogging. I guess if I start to run up against limitations with blogger I can shop around to see what else is available.
